997 Book

My involvement in this Sneaker Freaker project was a bit more than Iโ€™d previously been asked to do. Along with featuring in an interview alongside the likes of Ronnie Fieg, Poggy The Man and the 997โ€™s designer Steven Smith; I also contributed some work.

SF asked me to supply a side project/giant nerd-out which is the 997 Archive for the book. This came as a printed section in the book as well as a free magazine that came with each copy.

I also was able to play the role of resident nerd consultant, co-hosted with my big homie Richie Roxas. What this involved was basically blurting out a bunch of facts and rumours for Woody and the SF team to attempt verifying.

Sadly for many, this was never sold to the public. Instead it was seeded to VIPs with a few copies being given away to a lucky few through promotions run by key stores.

Articles

Mortgage the House

An article I wrote for Up There Store in anticipation for their re-release of the iconic New Balance 1300. Itโ€™s a pretty detailed unofficial history of the modelโ€™s cultural significance.

Welcome Back the 997!

Printed in Sneaker Freaker magazine issue 29 and published online, this piece was commissioned by New Balance to coincide with the 997 modelโ€™s reintroduction after 20 years.

Craftsmanship & Imagination

I had the pleasure of being interviewed for this zine created by Sneaker Freaker Magazine for New Balance Australia. The publication included a brief history as well as interviews with noted collectors; including DJ Mars, fellow nerd Marcel Holzmann and Mita Sneakers owner Shigeyuki Kuni.

I also provided a whole tonne of rare NBs for the bookโ€™s photography along with some rare gems that I hadnโ€™t tracked down from my mate Stuart Arrowsmith.

Also featured is a particularly bad photograph of me which was taken under the impression that this wasnโ€™t going to be so widely distributedโ€ฆ They made thousands of them and gave them away seemingly everywhere!

Interviews

YCMC Blog

This is short but YCMC is so integral to the New Balance 99x seriesโ€™ notoriety in the DMV area that I really wanted to archive it.

StockX

Just a pretty basic interview with American sales platforms StockX. I discussed my 1500 archive project & a bit more about my history with sneakers.
